Using Winter Snow Tires

March 9, 2009 at 7:14 pm (Personal Experiences)

Tires are important to any car that we drive. No one can operate a car without them and they work to control our movements on the road. Those who live in cold condition that have snowy weather understand how important tires are for their safety.

During the months of ice and snow vehicles should be equipped with winter snow tires. These specific type of tires are produced to drive well in the slippery roads that are caused when the ice smooths over it. They are created using a different type of tread and rubber that allows it to grip the ice and control the car while driving over it. Read the rest of this entry »

Pedicures

February 16, 2009 at 9:08 pm (Personal Experiences)

If you have never tried one than it is time for you to have a pedicure. Pedicures are some of the most relaxing techniques that you could ever try. One of the best things about these pedicures is that they can make your feet and toes look great and they give you a great massage to help you relax through the whole process.

There are many types of pedicure foot spas that you can get. The most commonly chosen types are the standard pedicure, paraffin pedicure, exfoliating pedicure, and the French pedicure. The standard pedicure is the most simplest type and is where they will remove any old nail polish from the toes, soak the feet, trim the cuticles and toenails, perform an exfoliation of the heel, and add new nail polish.

The paraffin pedicure is just like the standard pedicure except they will also do a paraffin wax dip for the feet. Paraffin wax will help to moisturize the dry skin on the feet and to allow the moisture to be locked in. The French pedicure is the same thing as the standard except white polish will be painted on to the tips of the toenails only. After which the rest of the toenail will be painted with a light pink color or nude color.

An exfoliating pedicure is the same thing as a standard pedicure except that it also has an extra amount of scrub that will remove the dead skin from the feet. They do this by using a pumice stone and a sugar or salt scrub. The foot will look younger and smoother after the dead skin is removed.

Tattoo Pain – How To Get Past It

February 5, 2009 at 4:34 pm (Personal Experiences)

Ever since I was 18 I thought about how great it would be to get a tattoo. When deciding whether or not I wanted a tattoo there was one thing that kept going through my head that held me back. I was afraid of the pain that it would cause me. For some reason pain is something that I don’t like to deal with – but who does.

For me it was knowing how painful it was going to be. After getting a tongue ring at 18 (which was removed a week later) I probably should have been able to deal with the pain the comes with a tattoo – but it just kept bugging me. While trying to decide I would ask around to see if there were ways to minimize the pain from tattoos. Read the rest of this entry »

Insulation Types For Sleeping Bags

January 24, 2009 at 2:43 am (Personal Experiences)

Many of us own sleeping bags. They may be for our children when they go out on trips or over a friend’s house. Some might be for us in case of emergencies or when we go camping. There are many types of sleeping bags including; sleeping, children, and double sleeping bags.

One of the biggest things you have to worry about when purchasing any type of sleeping bag is the insulation that it uses. Nobody wants to be freezing or burning up (depending on the weather) while they are trying to sleep. Instead they want to be comfortable and get a full 8 hours of sleep before the wild crows wake you up. Read the rest of this entry »

How Painful Are Tattoos

November 30, 2008 at 5:31 pm (Personal Experiences)

There are many things about getting a tattoo that most people do not know about. The one thing that you can be sure of is that it is going to be incredibly painful. I know from experience that they hurt and I only had a small tattoo. There are things that you can take that will help to diminish the pain of tattoos. Some are natural and others are medical.

But first you need to be made aware of the things that you should never take when trying to avoid the pain of a tattoo.

Never take alcohol or illegal drugs. Many people think that this will help against the pain – but all this does is make the process less safe. These things can thin the blood out and increase the amount that you will bleed. Also many artists will refuse to work on someone who is drunk and in some states it is illegal.

Also never take ibuprofen or aspirin. These products will also thin the blood.

You can take Tylenol or acetaminophen. These are over the counter painkillers that don’t think your blood – making them safer and more effective.

Some people will go to extreme measures and will even try hypnosis. Of course this doesn’t work with everyone.

You could always take nothing and tough it out like some people do. If you decide to do this then there are things that can help to take your mind off the pain.

When I was getting my tattoo I focused on other things and did not look at the needle once. Instead I held something tight in my free hand and thought about all the things that I had to do during the weekend. Before I knew it the artist had finished. It is true that I still felt the pain – but distracting myself made it more bearable and kept me from screaming out in pain.

There are other ways that can work to distract you. Try listening to music or watching a movie while they do that if they allow it. The best thing is to find what relaxes you and try to use that to help numb the pain.

Finding Your Ideal Tattoo Design

November 13, 2008 at 10:37 pm (Personal Experiences)

When it comes to choosing a tattoo we want it to be something really good. After all we will have it on us for the rest of our lives. But of course trying to find the ideal tattoo design isn’t always easy for us.

I recently got a tattoo and I told myself that I was going to get a claddagh. This is an Irish symbol for love and relationships. Because I am married I thought it only fitting to show just how much I love my husband. But when I got to the tattoo parlor I had a change in plans.

I wanted to stay a bit simple and didn’t want to spend too much money. Yes, money was a big factor for me because I hate to waste it. Also I just couldn’t imagine myself with a big red heart plastered on me. So instead I opted for an oriental symbol that meant ‘dream’. This symbol was very true to my nature and so I knew it was right for me. It was also very simple and not too big. I had it placed on my wrist and now I am very happy with it and do not regret it at all.

In order to help you make your decision we have a few points to think about. It might take a few months – but don’t worry about that. Don’t rush into it!

Are you trying to express who you are as an individual?
Do you want to honor someone with it?
Get inspiration from other tattoos that someone has.
Try finding unique designs in stationary, stickers, posters, or even books.
Remember that whatever you choose will express to people the type of person you are.
Use the internet. It is a great resource and is perfect for those of you who can’t draw out your ideal design.
Do you want the tattoo to be color or black and gray?
Above all use your imagination!

Using The Belly Bandit Post-Pregnancy

October 8, 2008 at 1:03 am (Personal Experiences)

It is a time when we get to carry our children with us for 10 months. It is also a time when we are restricted to what we eat and drink. However, none of us can deny the fact that we can’t wait till they get out and we can finally wrap our arms around them!

After going through the pain of childbirth we are now able to eat what we want and to get back into the clothes we were in before we got pregnant. Keep in mind that this process is not simple or always easy. It can take months for someone to lose all the weight they gained. One thing that can help the process along is the belly bandit.

The belly bandit is an abdominal compression that is wrapped around the stomach. You wear it a few days after you have given birth and it will help to reduce your stomach back to its normal size. It will also help to shrink the uterus – which is important – and can reduce the bloating and swelling. It is usually only $39.95 and is a must have.

How To Buy Your First Guitar

October 1, 2008 at 9:43 pm (Personal Experiences)

A friend of mine is all about playing the guitar. I was impressed with the songs that he could play and the fact that he taught himself was amazing. I figured if he could do it then I could. However, it was much more difficult then I had imagined and I soon gave up. I prefer to stick to my piano. However, I was able to learn how to buy the very first guitar you will use and am passing on my knowledge!

you need to purchase a beginner guitar – which is fairly inexpensive. You should keep the budget around $200 to $300 for any type of guitar. You don’t have to stick to a brand new guitar so you might want to consider a used one if you have a very limited budget. Used dealers and local pawn shops are the place to go for used guitars.

To make sure that you are choosing the right type bring someone with you who has experience or go to a music store and ask someone who knows that they are talking about. Ask them what brands and what types of guitars you need to say away from. When it comes to the used ones your little helper will be able to tell if the guitar is properly tuned or not. Your untrained ear will not be able to determine this. If no one is there to check it for you make sure that the store clerk does what they can to verify that the guitar is set to the right concert pitch.

Pick up a few guitars and try them on. Try strumming on them while standing up and sitting down. This will help you to buy one that you are comfortable with and that is not too large or too small for you.

Put your index finger behind the first fret on the largest string. This fret is the raised metal “line”. Then pluck the string hard. Listen out for any buzzes, odd noises, or pops. Make sure to check behind each fret on each string. If you notice any bit of sound that does not sound normal or musical then ask the clerk to adjust to and retune it. If that doesn’t help then you don’t need to get it.

Before purchasing make sure that your new guitar comes the right guitar gear. This mean it should come with a warranty, new set of strings, a tuner, and a gigbag. Above all else have fun!

Sharing Wedding Vows

September 18, 2008 at 5:08 pm (Personal Experiences)

When me and my husband got married we had a very simple ceremony. We didn’t want to spend the money to have a lavish wedding that would only last one weekend. We decided that a simple and small ceremony in the park was the way to go and we loved every moment of it.

It was a beautiful ceremony – but we hope in a few years to have a big ceremony that we can afford and that we both will love. One of the things that I hope to do in the bigger ceremony is to write our own vows.

Writing your own cows is a very romantic gesture and both parts. It is a great way for each one to express the way that they feel and to share that experience with close friends and family. Plus it shows the one you love how much you love them. It is a very close experience and one of the most romantic things that the two of you will ever do for each other – but hopefully not the last!
